In multifamily residential development, signage does more than just display a name — it defines a place, reinforces identity, and sets the tone for the community experience. For The Ridge at Ward Station, ArchitecturalSigns.com delivered a modern monument signage package that balances striking visibility with elegant architectural integration.
Purpose Meets Design
Located in a growing urban corridor, The Ridge at Ward Station needed signage that would stand out—both in daylight and after dark—while complementing the modern architecture of the property. Our team was engaged to fabricate and install a signage system that communicates both permanence and refinement.
Each sign features a bold aluminum cabinet with precision-routed lettering. The typography was designed to express the brand’s clean and contemporary character. But it’s the details behind the lettering that bring this project to life: we used push-thru acrylic letters illuminated with internal LED lighting, creating a soft backlit glow that adds both visibility and sophistication after sundown.
Materials Matter: Built to Withstand and Impress
Durability is critical for monument signage, especially in high-exposure outdoor environments. For this project, we used fabricated aluminum cabinets, powder-coated for weather resistance and longevity. The lettering components were fabricated using router-cut acrylic, precisely inserted through the sign face for a dimensional, backlit effect.
The structural components—such as the bold vertical and horizontal beams—are made from powder-coated aluminum, custom fabricated to mimic architectural steel while maintaining ease of fabrication, corrosion resistance, and low maintenance requirements.
The masonry bases, also part of our scope of work, were constructed to anchor the signage visually and structurally, grounding each sign within its landscape setting. The neutral-toned brick and concrete work seamlessly with the color palette of the sign faces, providing a unified architectural feel across the entire site.
Site-Wide Cohesion
One of the strengths of this project was the consistency across multiple signs. From entrance monuments to secondary building markers, we ensured the materials, colors, lighting, and branding stayed uniform—while adapting each sign to the specific needs of its location.
For example:
-
The main identity monument integrates a crossbeam frame element and wider base for visibility from the main road.
-
Secondary building entry markers use a narrower footprint while retaining all primary brand elements.
-
All signs are lit consistently, making nighttime navigation and branding just as effective as during the day.
This level of cohesion creates a polished look that enhances the overall property value and improves the resident and visitor experience alike.
Designed to Perform
Backlit push-thru lettering offers both aesthetic and functional benefits. During the day, the solid acrylic letters provide a clean and dimensional look. At night, internal LED lighting diffuses through the acrylic, creating a crisp halo effect that increases legibility without adding glare.
This style of sign is ideal for multifamily developments where around-the-clock visibility is key, and where branding should feel as carefully curated as the buildings themselves.
